The tradition of caru-caruhan (procession of the children)
I remember my childhood days in the early 80's... our generation then initiated this Caru-caruhan using religious drawings in white papers inserted with "walis tingting" and mimicking a procession in our own backyard, then, come the molding of clay and forming small figures akin to religious images , carefully placed them atop the shoe boxes and decorated with plastic flowers....We started it... we are the pioneer... and I must say I was the one who started it.. then others kids in our street named Regidor continued this tradition.. but now as time changes...i must say everything in this world follows the constant change.... The Caru-Caruhan de Regidor (Caru-Caruhan de Binangonan) now officially held ONE WEEK before Holy Week. The leader, JP Vitalli and other founding members (not all) decided to moved its date to be able to genuinely evangelize, remind and educate kids about the true essence of Holy Week. So next TIME you would like to witness the said unusual and solemn event come to Binangonan (Schedule of Processions: Wed. before Palm Sunday, Thurs. before Palm Sunday, Friday before Palm Sunday and Palm Sunday evening).
